Don’t Hurt Yourself When You Move
Here are some great tips about moving from my friends at 1-800-PACK-RAT.
1. Lift with your legs: You should always lift with your legs and not your back. Keep your back straight and bend at the knees so your legs are taking the weight, not your back.
2. Ask for help: If something is just too heavy – ask for assistance. Call a friend, family member, or even a neighbor and have them help you get the item in the truck.
3. Clear a path: Make sure the path is clear of boxes or other items that could cause you to trip and fall while moving a heavy object. Not only could a fall damage the item, you can seriously injure yourself.
4. Take your time: Rushing while moving heavy objects is unnecessary and can lead to an injury. Just take your time and walk slowly. If you need to set down the item and take a break – do it! Taking the extra time is worth it if you can avoid hurting yourself.
If you don’t want to do it yourself, give me a call. I can give you some great mover recommendations.
